Ooooff that comment about Instagram being entertainment—I’ve known and thought that for years, but for some reason hearing someone else say it made it really click. I’ve been coming to that space for connection, but really, I only find that in IG stories where it’s people who I know well or have actively followed for a long time. The rest is just entertainment I use to fill time. That’s ok, but it does make me rethink my approach to IG. Maybe instead of trying to foster more connection there, I’ll focus on sharing what others might find entertaining/escapist there, and direct folks here for more of that connection.

(Thank for you coming to me TED talk).

On another note, I’m curious how you reconcile the point about having one clear client in mind with not getting stuck in a niche?

I think instagram used to be more about the connection and has just shifted over time, it’s why I love substack.

When I have one clear client in mind I have a real clarity about the work I put out into the world and I still find I attract a diverse client base or sometimes it’s about focusing on the diversity of the community that your ideal client lives within to broaden out.
