Do you ever feel like you slip from one year into the next without ever really pausing to take stock and celebrate? Resolutions are all well and good but they have a propensity to turn punitive. Instagram round ups tend to show only the prettiest parts.
About a decade ago, a friend introduced me to the Year Compass, and I’ve found myself returning to its gentle annual reflection process again and again.
Year Compass is a free, short workbook released annually to help you reflect on the year gone by and plan out the one just about to begin. It contains a series of questions with space to record your answers, and encourages you, to quote from the team, to “learn from your mistakes, celebrate your victories, and set out a path you want to walk on”.
At the beginning of 2024 we went through this together as a group. We enjoyed a mixture of contemplative silences and time spent discussing our thoughts. You can catch the replay below. (Free to all subscribers.)
